Saab cars built since about 1994 feature an immobilizer mechanism built on coded keys. A new transponder is required in order to enable the addition of an additional key, as well as special programming. This is usually done at the dealer using a special Tech2 diagnostic tool.

Transponder key

Jumpstarting the battery
