3 wheel pushchair Wheel Double Buggy

The Fox 5 is an all-terrain stroller that is ideal for parents who want to explore off-road. It has impressive suspension and large wheels that are puncture-proof.

Our tester Claire was impressed by the neat packaging that was easy to open and thought it was to be one of the quickest and most simple pieces of baby gear to put together. She took it out to explore some tough terrain and was extremely pleased with its performance.

Seats

The majority of triple buggies start as single pushchairs. However, some models can be converted to accept the second seat using adapters. Some models allow you to add an additional board for older children who are able to walk, but still require a little help.

Take a look at the Joie Evalite Duo for an ultra-lightweight option that is perfect for city streets. It's easy to move, and it has a large basket with lots of storage. It can be used to accommodate twins as young as birth and accommodate two car seats as well as an infant carrycot and seat. The seats must be facing toward the forward direction and there isn't room to store an item under the seat. You will need a sidepack.

If you're looking to travel off-road then the Mountain Buggy Duet is a excellent choice. It's a side-byside model with the smallest footprint of any double buggy on the market. This makes it easier to fit through narrow doors and on public transport and allows you to climb up and down kerbs without too much trouble. It also has a handbrake on the adjustable handlebar for extra security and safety.

Another option that is lightweight is the UPPAbaby Vista 2 Double that can be used for twins or a baby and toddler. The seats come with multi-position recline and UPF 50+ sunshades while the canopy can be adjusted to keep the sun out of your child's eyes. The Vista 2 can be converted into a triple by adding UPPAbaby’s "PiggyBack" board, which is designed for older children.

The iCandy Orange is one of the most well-known double buggies available due to its outstanding comfort. It's an all-terrain model with a soft suspension that can easily handle bumpy surfaces. It can accommodate up to 30 seating configurations and has an integrated ride-on board that can be used for older children who prefer walking plus a 'cinema seating' mode that raises the back seat for better visibility.

The phil&teds dots are fantastic single buggys that can be easily modified to accommodate two (or three!) Multiple configurations are possible. This is especially helpful when you have a child in a car seat as the frame can be fitted with a wedgie for optimum lying flat, or car seat adapters to a wider range of brands.

Suspension

The suspension of a double 3 wheel buggy will determine how easy you and your child/children are able to push it. It is important to have a smooth ride because babies can feel every bump in the road. This is especially relevant if you drive on rough terrain such as grass or roads that aren't paved. Some models also come with locking front wheels to help in maneuvering and navigating obstacles such as curbs.

Some models come with air-filled tyres which will provide a fantastic all-terrain experience, but they can be prone to punctures, therefore, make sure you have a spare set in the trunk. Others have foam or gel tyres, designed to take the bumps and are less susceptible to punctures, however, you might feel a bit stiff and uncomfortable on your child's back if you decide to jog.

MFM reviewer Kath tested the Urban Glide 2 with her three wheeler pushchair-year-old and newborn, and found it to be extremely capable on terrain that is difficult to navigate. "It was able to effortlessly navigate bumpy sidewalks and grass cobbles, dirt, and tracks and was easy to maneuver around corners and climb up or down kerbs." The 16" rear wheels, when combined with the lockable swivel wheels on the front, create a very safe jogging experience. The Urban Glide 2 has a number of features, including large seats with padded cover as well as a hood that has 50+ UV protection, and rechargeable and easy-to use visibility lights.

Folding

A 3 wheel double buggy can fold up quite neatly to store it. There are models that fold flat and stand up (as though they were in a pushchair 3 wheels) and others that are able to open up to reveal more umbrella-like folding that has an operated break. In general the more wheels a buggy comes with, the easier it will be to navigate on rough terrain. This is especially true when the wheels are bigger than the average. This will give you more stability and reduce the chance that your children will tip or flip over.

It features an innovative 3-wheel design that includes a sling seat for better maneuverability, stability, and the ability to pop the kerb.

If you're looking to jog with your kids it is the best double buggies to jog with as it has a lockable swivel front wheel that can help you keep your balance when you're on off-road or hilly tracks. It features a big undercarriage, a movable handlebar, and a soft suspension for the most comfortable ride.

This is a lightweight compact model that is easy to fold with one hand. It is perfect for travel. It is compatible with many infant car seats and includes a handy undercarriage bag to store items. It's not cheap however, it does have several distinctive features, like its one-click folding and many extras, including a bumper bar or raincover.

Storage

One thing that people love about a quality 3 wheel double buggy is the storage capacity. The clever frame can expand to allow for an additional seat, but still weighs just 11kg. This makes it simple to move and lift. It can also take an infant car seat or carrycot, allowing you to enjoy the best of both worlds and it can help you save money in the future as you don't need to invest in another buggy as soon as you get it.
