Volvo drivers enjoy their key fob's handy remote features. Using a smartphone app, they can lock and unlock the car and start the engine and even locate it.

Place the fob's front up on a clean surface. Find the button to let it go. Place a coin between the cover of the fob and the fob, then carefully pull it up.

Unlocking the Door

Volvo's remote keyfobs let you unlock your vehicle's doors, tailgate, and fuel filler flap at the press of the button. They can also switch on the ignition, trigger the alarm, and even operate your sunroof when it's installed. You'll never have to search for your keys, or get locked out of your vehicle.

You might not be aware of certain key fob features that aren't visible. One of these features is the manual lock/unlock button, which can be pressed in the event the battery of your key fob fails.

Keep your key fob in place with the Volvo logo in the front to press the manual lock/unlock. Find the black button at the edge of your key fob, and gently press it. This will open a cover which is a cover for the key blade that is manual. This cover can be flipped counterclockwise by using a flathead or coin.

Starting the Engine

Modern Volvo key fobs provide an unbeatable level of convenience and functionality that is unmatched by traditional manual keys. But, as with any battery-powered electronic device, a key fob can lose its charge or stop working over time. To unlock the windows you need to press and hold the unlock button on your volvo xc60 key fob remote for four seconds. This will lower all the windows, and also the sunroof in case your car has one. When you're finished with the vehicle, you can close all windows by pressing the lock key again for four seconds.

If you have the Hands-Free Liftgate with Logo Projection and Programmable Height (if equipped) You can open it by using the key fob. Press the button to open it, and then use the same button to close it when you're done.

Turning off the Alarm

Modern key fobs are much more practical than a mechanical car key. But, they're not working in a perfect way for a long time, and their batteries will eventually fail. You can try to program your key fob at home if are in a hurry or don't have the time to visit the store.

Find a smooth surface and lay out your key fob, battery and any other keys. Place the key fob with the Volvo logo facing up Then, locate a small black button to the bottom left of the fob. Slide it to the right. The cover will fall off, revealing the mechanical key blade beneath.
